MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will not be attending the Philippine National Police (PNP) Day festivities in Camp Crame scheduled for Thursday, Malacañang announced in a statement on Wednesday night.
Executive Secretary Ralph Recto will represent the President who recorded a message, which will be played during the program, the PCO said
Marcos, with the exception of some private meetings, has opted to forego public appearances since being diagnosed with diverticulitis last week with Recto and other Cabinet officials filling in for him.
Despite this, Palace officials gave assurances that there was “nothing to worry about.”
The president, they insisted, is merely following his doctors’ orders for him to “slow down.”
