MANILA, Philippines—President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is open to studying the proposed rationing of fuel to ensure the country's oil supply does not dry up amid the continuing war in the Middle East, Malacañang said Monday.

The President will also study other recommendations to cushion the impact of skyrocketing prices of petroleum products including the imposition of price caps and distribution of monthly cash assistance for minimum wage earners, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro said.

"All suggestions will be considered," Castro said in Filipino in a press briefing when asked about the suggestion of some lawmakers for the government to enforce fuel purchasing limits to conserve energy stocks.

Fuel rationing was implemented in the country during the 1970 energy crisis.

“We will discuss this with (Department of Energy) Secretary Sharon Garin,” Castro said.
