Marcos to visit Japan to tackle strategic ties with Takaichi

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will visit Japan from May 26 to 29 to advance Manila's strategic partnership with Tokyo, Malacañang announced Friday.

The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said the state visit was upon the invitation of the Japanese government. 

During the visit, Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos will be received by Their Majesties, Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako, at the Imperial Palace for a welcome ceremony, state call, and state banquet.

Marcos will hold a summit meeting with Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae where they are expected to discuss the future trajectory of the Philippines and Japan's strengthened strategic partnership.

They will also continue their recent discussions on current international developments, especially about energy, food security, and maritime security.

Marcos will also meet with Japanese business groups and members of the Filipino community during the state visit.
