Marcos: ‘We will never compromise our sovereignty’

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday said while the country remains committed to diplomacy, its resolve on territorial integrity remains non-negotiable.

Speaking at the AFP’s change of command and retirement ceremony of outgoing AFP Chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr., Marcos said the country remains steadfast in defending its territory while adhering to peace and international law.

“The Philippines has always been and will always remain a nation that seeks peace; we adhere to international law. We are a respectful nation that conducts itself with dignity, restraint and professionalism. We seek cooperation but we will never compromise our sovereignty. We extend friendship to all, but we will never abandon our national dignity,” said Marcos.
