THE Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) has issued temporary guidelines for seafarers facing regional Seafarer’s Identity Document (SID) and Seafarer’s Record Book (SRB) processing delays, offering workarounds to safeguard upcoming deployment schedules.
For domestic routes, seafarers with an issued SIRB or pending SRB renewal can get an immediate validity extension stamp at designated processing centers for vessels operating in Philippine waters.
For international deployments, applicants can bypass regional endorsements and transfer their appointments directly to the Marina Central Office through an expedited track.
To complete this transfer, the seafarer’s licensed manning agency or shipping company must upload the required verification documents to Marina’s online portal, per Section VI, Item 2 of Memorandum Circular MD-2024-01.
Applicants without urgent departures can await regional operations to resume within 10 to 15 days, with automatic notifications sent for rescheduled appointments via registered email and phone.
These protocols maintain regulatory compliance while keeping crew changes on schedule during nationwide technical adjustments.
