
Kota Kinabalu: Marine police foiled the distribution of contraband cigarettes on the banks of Likas River on Monday.
The 6.46pm operation spearheaded by the Kota Kinabalu Marine Intelligence Unit saw cigarettes of various brands worth RM70,000 seized.
According to a source, the Unit was patrolling the river when they spotted a group of suspicious men.
“When approached, the men tried to run away. All the confiscated cigarettes are suspected to be distributed to the local market,” he said, Tuesday.

He said the confiscated fags were handed over to the Kota Kinabalu Customs Department for further action.
