Marine police seize RM1 million in diesel, arrest four in Kedah raid

Kedah marine police detain four men and confiscate diesel, trailers and equipment worth over RM1 million in a major controlled goods bust.

ALOR SETAR: The Marine Intelligence Unit of the Kuala Kedah Marine Police Force has arrested four men and seized diesel worth over RM330,000 in a raid.

The operation, conducted at a business premises in Mukim Sungai Laka, Kubang Pasu, also led to the confiscation of assets valued at more than RM1 million.

Acting on intelligence, the Op Taring Landai raid at 7.30 am yesterday detected the illegal transfer of diesel from skid tanks into a Thai-registered trailer.

Three Thai nationals and one local man, aged between 26 and 60, were detained for investigation.

All individuals failed to produce any documents or legal permission for the ownership and transfer of the diesel.

Authorities seized three trailers, nine skid tanks containing an estimated 100,013 litres of diesel, and three metered fuel pumps.

The total value of the seized items is estimated to be worth more than RM1 million.

The case is being investigated under Section 22 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961.

All arrests and confiscated items have been handed over to the Kubang Pasu district Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living for further action.

“PPM is committed to strengthening strategic cooperation between enforcement agencies in combating the diversion of controlled goods for the sake of national security and the well-being of the community,” said a police statement.
