
Canadian rapper and singer Mark Lee has officially parted ways with NCT and label SM Entertainment.
In an Instagram post released this afternoon, Lee announced his decision to leave NCT, including all sub-units and SM Entertainment with a handwritten letter. Using Korean and English, he thanked fans for their continuous support and asked for their support for his ‘new chapter’.

“Thank you for loving, supporting and shaping me to become who I am today. I truly believe that our hearts have better sights than our eyes, and what my heart sees now isn’t a closing door but rather an opening new one,” Lee wrote.
“I hope our next chapter together could be where we are all healthily smiling about the past, welcoming the present, and being excited for what’s to come.”
Since the group’s debut in 2016, Lee has been one of its most popular members, participating as fixed member of NCT 127, NCT Dream, and frequently appeared in the rotational NCT U. He was also was announced as part of SuperM’s seven-member lineup in 2019, joining alongside artists from SHINee, EXO, and fellow NCT members.
Lee made his solo debut last year on 7 April with his first studio album, The Firstfruit. His single from the album, 1999, was highly praised by fans and critics, earning over seven million views on YouTube.
Aside from his successful music career, Mark is also an ambassador for fashion houses Boucheron and Ralph Lauren.
