Spoilers ahead!

The official logline of Emily in Paris season 5 reads: “Now the head of Agence Grateau Rome, Emily faces professional and romantic challenges as she adapts to life in a new city. But just as everything falls into place, a work idea backfires, and the fallout cascades into heartbreak and career setbacks. Seeking stability, Emily leans into her French lifestyle, until a big secret threatens one of her closest relationships. Tackling conflict with honesty, Emily emerges with deeper connections, renewed clarity, and a readiness to embrace new possibilities.”
Her relocation to Rome and romance with Marcello widens the scope of the show. Their time together will allow the titular character to realise what she really seeks from life and who is the man for her.
Having said that, Star confirms that Emily in Paris season 5 will explore the Emily-Marcello relationship in greater detail. Last year, when the new instalment was greenlit, Collins had said, “Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance.” She also added, “We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.”
On the other hand, season 4 ended with Chef Gabriel, whom we had shipped with Emily for so long, getting an epiphany and rushing to Rome to be with her. But will things be smooth for him? Probably not.
As Collins tells Tudum, “Unfortunately, Gabriel has to deal with the repercussions of his choice [to end things with her]”.
