THE husband-and-wife founders of a popular relationship and marriage motivation programme have been remanded for three days along with four others, as police probe allegations of lewd behaviour and public indecency during one of their events.
The Shah Alam Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday issued the remand order against all six individuals — four women and two men, aged between 26 and 57 — to facilitate investigations under Section 509 and Section 294 of the Penal Code, as well as Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.
Magistrate Ameera Mastura Khamis granted the remand after all suspects were brought to court around 11am.
The couple, who also run a company behind the seminar series, were arrested on Monday after giving statements to police at the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters. Officers from the Shah Alam District Police then formally detained them as part of the ongoing probe.
Lawyer Datuk M Reza Hassan, representing four of the six individuals — including the founders, their child, and a participant in the programme — said his legal team had filed for a review of the remand decision.
“One of my clients submitted a medical report indicating illness, but the court did not accept it. That’s why we have filed an application to review the remand ruling,” he said when met outside the Shah Alam Magistrates’ Court.
Police are investigating whether the programme’s content or activities violated laws concerning the dignity and modesty of others, following public complaints and social media outrage over allegedly inappropriate scenes during the event.
Authorities have yet to confirm the exact nature of the incident under investigation, but the case has sparked renewed debate over the regulation of private motivational seminars and the standards of conduct expected in such settings. - July 16, 2025
