With Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday making waves this year, Marvel's momentum has been nothing short of unstoppable—not just in films, comics, and pop culture, but in video games as well.
Two major Marvel titles are arriving on consoles and PC in August and September as fans eagerly await Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls and Insomniac Games' Wolverine.
A superhero fighting game like no other
First up is Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, an upcoming fighting game developed by Arc System Works.
The Japanese studio is best known for acclaimed fighting game franchises such as Guilty Gear, BlazBlue, Persona 4 Arena, and Dragon Ball FighterZ. Now, it is bringing its signature fast-paced, over-the-top combat to the Marvel Universe.
What sets Marvel Tōkon apart is its unique 4-on-4 team battle system. Players assemble teams of four characters, who can tag in and out during fights or provide assists to extend combos and turn the tide of battle.
The game features a roster of 20 playable characters, including fan favorites such as Spider-Man, Wolverine, Storm, Captain America, and Doctor Doom, alongside lesser-known Marvel characters like Danger and Peni Parker.
Players can enjoy a variety of modes, including offline and online single-player content, ranked matches, practice mode, and Episode Mode, which follows the story of each of the game's five teams before culminating in boss battles against the Promoter and the Champion.
The game is currently holding its open beta from July 24 to 26 ahead of its official launch on Aug. 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC. For Marvel fans and fighting game enthusiasts, it's a chance to experience the action before release.
Wolverine unleashed
If fast-paced team battles aren't enough, Marvel fans can also look forward to stepping into the claws of Logan in Insomniac Games' Wolverine.
Developed by the studio behind the acclaimed Marvel's Spider-Man series, Wolverine takes place in the same universe but explores a different corner of Marvel's world. In this timeline, the X-Men have not yet formed, and mutants remain largely unknown to the public.
Logan serves as a member of Team X, a covert unit that protects mutants hunted by the Reavers, a cybernetically enhanced mercenary group backed by Trask Industries.
Players will be able to unleash Logan's iconic adamantium claws and rely on his legendary healing factor as they tear through enemies.
Fans can also expect brutal, visceral combat, along with appearances from notable X-Men characters, including Jean Grey, Sabretooth, Omega Red, and Lady Deathstrike.
Wolverine launches on Sept. 15 for PlayStation 5 and PC, giving Marvel fans another highly anticipated adventure to cap off a packed season for superhero gaming.
