KINABATANGAN: Cooperation within Sabah’s Unity Government gave a clear advantage to Barisan Nasional (BN) in the Kinabatangan parliamentary and Lamag state by-elections, said Gagasan Rakyat vice-president Datuk Masiung Banah.

He said collaboration between GRS, Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Upko created a “win-win approach for political stability,” which translated into strong voter support for BN candidates.

“The political wheel keeps turning, and this unity is a win-win formula for stability,” he said, adding that the campaign showed mature and close cooperation among all coalition partners.

Masiung thanked GRS leaders and campaign machinery for helping BN secure big majorities in both seats, following instructions from Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

He also said parties from Peninsular Malaysia should respect local political cooperation in Sabah, noting that their influence had already been tested in the last state election.

BN’s Mohd Kurniawan Naim Mokhtar won the Kinabatangan parliamentary seat with a majority of 14,214, while Mohd Ismail Ayub captured the Lamag seat with a majority of 5,681.
