THE Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) has officially launched the MATTA Fair April 2026, marking one of its largest editions to date as the tourism industry continues to demonstrate strong recovery and confidence.
Held from 3 to 5 April at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre, the event was officiated by Johor State Unity, Heritage and Culture Committee chairman K Raven Kumar, representing Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi.
MATTA president Nigel Wong said the 58th edition of the fair is among the largest ever organised, featuring 2,051 booths and participation from 332 organisations.
These include 210 travel agencies, alongside national and state tourism bodies, hotels, theme parks and various service providers, reflecting sustained confidence in the sector’s growth trajectory.
He emphasised that MATTA’s core focus remains on strengthening trust within the travel ecosystem, particularly between consumers and licensed industry players.
“Today, travel is about assurance and trusting the right service providers. At MATTA, we place great emphasis on building trust between travellers and our licensed members.
“When visitors deal with MATTA members, they are engaging with responsible and reputable professionals who can manage every aspect of the journey, from planning and bookings to on-site support at the destination.
“This is where the true value lies, and it is such measures that provide peace of mind to travellers,” he said in his opening address.
The fair underscores the industry’s continued efforts to rebuild traveller confidence while positioning Malaysia as a competitive and reliable tourism hub. - April 4, 2026
