Kota Kinabalu: Sabahans can look forward to hefty discounts and exciting prizes at Matta Fair Sabah 2026, scheduled to be held at the Sabah International Convention Centre from Sept 18 to 20.
“Our message this year is, we want Sabahans to travel more,” said Matta Fair Sabah 2026 Organising Chairman Mohd Azlan Saleh Abd Salam.
“We want them to go out and discover new destinations and experience more of what Malaysia and the world have to offer,” he told a media conference here, Tuesday, ahead of the Matta Fair Sabah 2026.
He said this year’s fair promises a stronger and more sustainable edition, with a wide range of domestic and international travel packages on offer, including family holidays, short getaways, adventure tourism, cruises, island experiences and Muslim-friendly travel.
He said professional travel agents will be on hand to help visitors plan their trips with more confidence.
“As always, we are offering discounts of up to 80 per cent this time,” he said.
“We encourage everyone to support our travel agents and local tourism businesses. By doing so, you are not only planning your next holiday but also contributing to the growth of Sabah’s tourism industry,” he said.
He said the fair has around 82 booths and organisers hope to draw more than two million visitors, matching the turnout from the previous edition held in April.
“We are grateful for the strong support of our partners, particularly RHB Bank, our official bank partner, and Malaysia Aviation Group, our official airline partner,” said Matta Fair Sabah 2026 Secretary Chai Chie Rong, who also thanked the Sabah Tourism Board, government agencies, sponsors and exhibitors for their continuous support.
“Every visitor who spends a minimum of RM100 at Matta Fair Sabah will be eligible to take part in the Matta Fair Buyer Contest,” Chai said.
“We are especially excited about our grand prize in collaboration with Malaysia Aviation Group, with more details to be announced closer to the fair,” he said.
He said some of the prizes on offer include return business-class tickets from Kota Kinabalu via Kuala Lumpur to Shenzhen for two people, along with return economy-class tickets to Fukuoka, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, among others.
“Visitors can also look forward to special travel promotions, holiday packages, airline and accommodation offers, as well as lucky draws and activities throughout the three-day fair,” he said.
“Our travel agents, particularly local SMEs, play an important role in Sabah’s tourism ecosystem,” Chai said.
“Matta Fair Sabah gives them a valuable platform to showcase their products and expertise, connect with consumers and industry players and explore new business opportunities,” he said.
