Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) Fair Sabah is different from others because it emphasises more on promotions.
Matta Sabah and Labuan Chairman Lawrence Chin said the fair, which only allows licensed agencies to participate, has always been a crowd puller for holiday packages.
He said the travel agencies, hoteliers, bankers and other tourism-related services offer great deals for travellers.
“This special edition is organised in response to pent-up demand and to boost local travel,” said Chin, who is also the organising chairman, when launching the second Matta Fair Sabah for 2022 since Malaysia opened its borders in April this year.
He advised travellers to be equipped with sufficient travel insurance cover to protect themselves from unforeseen circumstances.
Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), which comprises Malaysia Airlines, Firefly and MASwings, are the official airlines for the Matta Fair Sabah.
MAG airlines will be giving away 27 tickets for the Buyers’ Contest which include economy class return tickets to Kuala Lumpur, Narita, Saigon, Langkawi and Penang.
The fair, held at the 8th floor of Suria Sabah, involves 33 booths to cater and satisfy consumers’ demands with a variety of value-for-money domestic and international packages.
Admission to the fair, from 10am-9pm until this Sunday, is free.
