Kota Kinabalu: Prepare for the end-of-year holidays as an array of packages available at the upcoming Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) Fair Sabah.

Matta Sabah Chairman Christina Wahida Kong said the second edition of Matta Fair Sabah for this year would be held from Oct 13 to 15, 2023 at the Sabah International Convention Centre.

There were more than 60 booths featuring around 40 exhibitors comprising varieties of travel related service exhibitors, she said.

“We expect 15,000 visitors to turn out during the three-day fair, with a total sales turnover around RM25 million,” said Kong at Matta Sabah Secretariat.

Read more The sales projection is based on the travelling boom from the upcoming school and year-end holidays, Christmas and New Year period and further down to Chinese New Year in Feb 2024, she said.

“We expects to see local tours of Sabah, Langkawi, Sarawak and Penang as the top preferred domestic destinations.

“Local Inbound operators from Semporna, Sandakan and Tawau are expected to get an encouraging response from travellers,” she said.

Outbound tours to popular international destinations such as the Balkans, Alaska, Europe, UAE and many others are expected to draw many interest, she added.

“We also have attractive Islamic packages for Muslim to visit Saudi Arabia, perform pilgrimage and umrah,” she said.

The Malaysia Aviation Group, comprising Malaysia Airlines and its sister companies, Firefly and MASwings, is also on board to provide services, including discount offers, to customers,” she said.

“We are looking forward to their superb deals ranging from airfare tickets, holidays packages and experiences, plus multiple travel perks for their next getaway,” said Kong.

The Bank Rakyat is also on board as an official bank to create awareness on special offer to cater for travel trade, she said.

There will be 15 buyer contest lucky draw prizes worth RM30,000 to be won. The main prize is a return air ticket to Melbourne.

Consumers can participate in the lucky draw with a minimum purchase of RM100 from the fair.

The three-day fair is open from 10am to 9pm. Admission is free.
