PETALING JAYA: Maxim E-hailing Malaysia has partnered with Zlata to expand insurance coverage for e-hailing drivers nationwide, in a move aimed at enhancing driver protection by improving access to solutions tailored to the gig mobility sector.
The collaboration introduces insurance policies designed specifically for e-hailing drivers, covering incidents that occur while en route to pick up passengers, during trips and upon completing rides.
Under the scheme, drivers are eligible for compensation in cases of accidents, injuries, or vehicle damage related to e-hailing activities, helping them avoid potentially high out-of-pocket costs.
Beyond providing policies, Zlata will also function as a centralised support hub, assisting drivers with towing coordination, claims documentation and liaising with insurers to reduce vehicle downtime following accidents.
To improve affordability, Zlata has introduced a Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) option, allowing drivers to obtain coverage without paying the full premium upfront.
As an added incentive, drivers who purchase a policy through the partnership will receive a complimentary car battery with warranty coverage. The battery, which typically lasts between 18 and 24 months — corresponding to a mileage of 50,000 to 70,000 km, can help drivers save between RM200 and RM400 annually.
The battery will be installed by trained technicians to ensure proper fitting and minimise disruption to drivers’ operations.

Maxim E-hailing Malaysia’s Legal Compliance & Government Relations Head, Mushfique Ahmed Chowdhury said driver safety and well-being remain their top priority.
“This partnership allows us to work with an experienced insurance provider to offer more flexible and relevant solutions that better align with the realities of gig work,” he added.
Both Maxim and Zlata are also exploring outreach and educational initiatives to improve drivers’ awareness and understanding of insurance benefits.
