Maybank has rolled out a new way to dip your toes into investing without needing a large amount to get started. Called Savings+, the feature is built into the MAE app and lets you start investing from as little as RM10.

Despite the “Savings+” label, this isn’t a savings or deposit account. It’s an investment feature that puts your money into a Shariah-compliant money market fund managed by Maybank Asset Management, which invests in relatively short-term, liquid assets.

Maybank lists potential returns of up to 3.32% per annum as at 30 June 2026. That figure can move up or down depending on market conditions and how the fund performs with any returns are worked out daily and credited to you monthly.

Getting started happens entirely within MAE, where you can complete the sign-up, invest, keep an eye on how your money is doing and even set up automatic monthly investments if you’d rather do it hands-free. There’s no lock-in period either, and both investments and withdrawals are processed within an average of two business days.

To start investing:

  1. Open the MAE app, tap “View All” and select “Savings+” under “Savings & Investment.”
  2. Follow the steps to set up your Unit Trust Account and complete the Suitability Assessment.
  3. Make your first investment from RM10.
  4. Track your investment and fund performance through the Savings+ dashboard.

On the app, Savings+ sits alongside Maybank’s other investment options like the Islamic Gold Account-i, Goal-Based Investment and ASNB Investment, and is open to both new and existing customers. As with any investment, returns can rise or fall, so it’s worth understanding the risks before putting your money in.
