Maynilad: emergency repairs slated

(UPDATE) MAYNILAD Water Services Inc. on Monday said that it was conducting emergency repair activities on a damaged pipeline in Ermita, Manila, to prevent further water loss in affected areas.

“We are currently undertaking emergency repair works to prevent further water loss. Water service will resume gradually after repair completion, system re-energization, and pressure build-up. Mobile water tankers are being deployed as needed to assist affected customers,” Maynilad said.

The company said that it was also validating the latest repair completion and service restoration estimate, as well as the final affected customer count.

Parts of Las Piñas City, Parañaque City, and Pasay City in Metro Manilla and parts of Bacoor City, Cavite City, Imus City, Noveleta, Kawit, and Rosario in Cavite experienced unannounced water interruptions on May 24, starting at 5 a.m. because a 750-millimeter-diameter water pipeline along A. Villegas Street corner N. Lopez Street was damaged by a drainage contractor of the Manila City government, prompting emergency repairs.

The water concessionaire said that repairs were initially projected to be done by May 26 at 1 a.m.
