Mayor Pravesh Wahi on Monday carried out an extensive inspection of sanitation arrangements in Badli under the Civil Lines Zone and expressed strong displeasure over garbage accumulation, unattended debris and poor civic conditions in the area.
During the inspection, the Mayor visited several localities, interacted with residents and reviewed complaints relating to sanitation and civic amenities. Taking note of the deteriorating conditions, he reprimanded Municipal Corporation officials and sanitation staff, warning negligence in cleanliness and public services would not be tolerated.
In a symbolic gesture aimed at reinforcing civic responsibility, Wahi supervised debris removal and joined sanitation workers in lifting garbage during the drive. He directed officials to immediately commence cleaning operations and ensure prompt disposal of waste from roads and public spaces.
The Mayor also engaged with shopkeepers and traders in the locality, urging them to place dustbins outside their establishments. He said maintaining cleanliness in the capital was a shared responsibility and required active participation from residents and the business community alongside the Municipal Corporation.
Wahi said the Municipal Corporation of Delhi was conducting regular inspections across the city to strengthen sanitation systems at the grassroots level. He added that wherever lapses in cleanliness, debris removal or civic maintenance were identified, immediate corrective measures would be taken.
Stressing accountability, the Mayor said strict action would be initiated against officials and employees found negligent in sanitation work. He directed authorities to prioritise regular cleanliness drives, timely garbage collection and swift removal of debris to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment for residents.
