PUBLIC Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon said Thursday that the P81-million Maysan Road rehabilitation project in Valenzuela City will begin this month.
“I was told by the concerned engineering district that the rehabilitation of Maysan Road would take eight to 10 months but I instructed them to finish the first phase in six months,” Dizon said, as he and Mayor Wes Gatchalian inspected the national road that leads to the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx).
“Mayor Wes brought Maysan Road to my attention last year, and as you can see, it looks like a washboard. Motorcyclists are especially vulnerable. We should have started sooner, but the rain just wouldn’t let up. However, I promised the mayor that once the weather eases, we will begin — and now we are,” Dizon added.
Gatchalian urged for public cooperation as the major thoroughfare undergoes rehabilitation.
“We expect heavy traffic on Maysan Road, so we ask for your understanding and patience,” Gatchalian said, noting the goal is to make the road durable with high-quality concrete and thick steel reinforcement.
