KUALA SELANGOR, Feb 25 — All efforts will be focused on the northern region of the state to realise our Selangor Rail Line, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He added that discussions are being held with the Transport Ministry and the overall plan for the construction of the train is expected to be presented this year.
“This term I want to implement our Selangor Rail Line, at least the public transport facility up to Kuala Selangor.
“I am holding discussions with the Ministry, so that you can live here and work in Kuala Lumpur with only one hour’s travel” he said at the opening ceremony of the Madani Cheapest Sale programme at the Tanjung Karang Community Service centre here, today.
Also present were state executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato’ Ng Suee Lim, Tanjung Karang MP Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi and of Selangor Menteri Besar (Incorporated) or MBI chief executive officer Saipolyazan M Yusop.
At the presentation of the Selangor Budget 2024, the State Government announced the construction of a railway network that will start from Klang to Kuala Selangor, Tanjong Karang, and Sabak Bernam.
According to Amirudin, the infrastructure project start with a feasibility study that will consider various aspects and an allocation of RM3 million.

Meanwhile, Selangor became the first state to create a food supply reserve that is expected to last up to three months.
Dato’ Menteri Besar said the state government allocated RM50 million to create food security involving the supply of food such as rice, chicken, meat and fish.
“The security of our food supply will start with crops, by ensuring livestock products and the supply of livestock feed, which is corn grain, which will reduce dependence on imports.
“We will also store food such as rice, chicken, meat and fish for the people of Selangor. If it succeeds, we will be able to hold out for up to three months in the event of a crisis.”
According to Amirudin, the state will build a special warehouse to house the food supply involved and it will be sold via the Jualan Ehsan Rahmah programme to ensure its continuity.
“The more important issue is that the initiative will be paired with our food storage stocks. I will talk to the National Action Council on Cost of Living (Naccol) to ensure that the food stock is not wasted and is used up on time,” he said.
