SHAH ALAM — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation) (MBI Selangor) and the UN Global Compact Network Malaysia, Brunei & Cambodia (UNGCMBC) have launched a strategic partnership to deploy RANTAiX, UNGCMBC’s AI-enabled ESG assessment and intelligence platform, across MBI Selangor’s subsidiaries. Through this initiative, MBI Selangor becomes the first

state-owned investment conglomerate in Malaysia to deploy an AI-enabled ESG readiness platform across its subsidiaries, marking a significant step in embedding data-driven sustainability governance at scale.

Traditionally deployed for supply chain and vendor assessments, RANTAiX is being extended to a full group-level ESG diagnostic covering MBI Selangor’s entire portfolio of subsidiaries. This marks a broader application of the platform and positions MBI Selangor as an early mover in using AI-driven tools for conglomerate-level ESG governance.

Through RANTAiX, MBI Selangor will obtain a consolidated, group-wide picture of current sustainability practices, key ESG risks, and capability gaps across its subsidiaries. The intelligence generated will enable more targeted interventions, sharper performance monitoring, and tighter alignment in ESG execution, moving the group from fragmented reporting to coordinated, analytics-driven sustainability management.

The initiative will also establish a consistent ESG baseline across the MBI Selangor Group, forming the foundation for stronger governance, more strategic

capability-building, and a coherent, group-wide sustainability roadmap. Beyond MBI Selangor, the approach is expected to serve as a replicable model for government-linked investment entities and conglomerates seeking to operationalise ESG at scale through AI.

MBI Selangor Group Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Saipolyazan M. Yusop, said, “ESG is no longer a reporting obligation — it is a strategic lens through which we manage risk, create value, and fulfil our responsibilities as stewards of Selangor’s assets. This partnership with UNGCMBC, and our deployment of RANTAiX, signals a new chapter: one where our ESG commitments are grounded in data, measured with rigour, and implemented with purpose across every company within our group.”

UNGCMBC Deputy Executive Director Angeline Seah said the partnership with MBI Selangor demonstrates how AI tools can accelerate the transition from ESG ambition to measurable action. “Many organisations want to do ESG right, but without a structured baseline, efforts remain fragmented. What MBI Selangor is doing –

assessing its subsidiaries through a single intelligence platform – provides a more structured basis for group-level ESG governance and more coordinated sustainability action,” said Seah.

The launch marks a tangible inflection point in MBI Selangor’s sustainability journey, from broad commitments to structured, technology-enabled execution. As ESG performance increasingly shapes investor confidence, access to financing, and the quality of strategic partnerships, MBI Selangor’s proactive, group-wide approach positions the organisation as a benchmark for responsible, future-oriented state investment management in Malaysia.
