SHAH ALAM, Dec 15 — A total of RM2.44 million has been allocated for the PJ Seed community grant over a five-year period to help stakeholders implement projects to improve the performance of the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ).
According to the media secretariat of its corporate communications unit, community grants under the Petaling Jaya Smart, Resilient and Resilient Action Plan 2030 (PJSTAR 2030) involved 138 applications approved since 2019.
“This grant is open to all stakeholders such as residents’ associations, schools, institutions of higher learning and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) whether inside or outside Petaling Jaya.
“(It allows stakeholders) to submit projects or ideas that can help improve MBPJ’s performance based on the PJSSR 2030 plan,” he said in a statement.
For this year, the local authority (PBT) informed that a total of RM542,682.39 was earmarked for 25 approved applications, with 12 of them community garden projects under the theme of low carbon cities.
He added that other approvals include six education and learning projects under the theme of learning cities, cyclical economy (three projects), resilient and safe cities (two projects) while economic cities and communities each have one project.
“It is hoped that the approved project can help improve MBPJ’s performance to become an outstanding PBT in Malaysia as well as help achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG2030) at the international level.
“Hopefully the project can be implemented according to the set period and the residents of Petaling Jaya in general will benefit from it,” he said
