KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Youth Council (MBS) has reiterated its concern over the enforcement of the youth age limit beginning Jan 1 next year.

Its president, Abqaree Fawwaz Abekan (pic), said the move would exclude those aged 31 to 40 in Sabah from youth development programmes, affecting their personal growth.

He warned that this group might turn to alternative influences and ideologies that stray from national aspirations, leading to reduced government engagement with them.

Abqaree added that the financial allocation for youth development would also shrink in proportion to the smaller age group, potentially weakening Sabah’s youth development performance.

He said the decision to limit youth age to 30 was made hastily without considering Sabah’s demographic, geographic, and cultural diversity.
