SHAH ALAM, Sept 3 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has cordoned off certain portions of the Section 7 lake after reports of a crocodile sighting here.

The local authority said it will monitor the area, and advised the public to avoid visiting the location for now.

The Selangor Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan), meanwhile, will set traps around the lake to capture the reptile, besides putting up warning banners.

“The public is advised to be cautious, and, if possible, avoid recreational activities around the lake in Section 7, Shah Alam,” the MBSA said in a statement today.

It said this after its officers conducted a site visit and held talks with Selangor Perhilitan about the crocodile sighting, which has gone viral on social media.

Among those present for the discussion were MBSA corporate and public relations director Mohd Azhar Mohd Sharif, environmental health director Norhisham Mohammad, Selangor Perhilitan deputy director Mohd Amir Abu Bakar, and MBSA emergency response team members.

Earlier, MBSA issued a notice urging the public to be cautious when around the Section 7 lake, following reports of the crocodile sighting.

It said authorities are taking measures to ensure everyone’s safety.
