MBSA provides disability equipment aid to underserved groups

SHAH ALAM, Aug 4 - The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), under its Caring Community programme, has distributed free disability equipment to underserved groups to improve their well-being and quality of life.

In a Facebook post, the local authority said recipients received equipment such as wheelchairs, reading glasses, walking canes and air mattresses.

“This initiative is in line with SDG (Sustainable Development Goal) 3, which is Good Health and Well-being, and SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals,” it added.

Among the recipients was Rajammah Varathraj, 73, from Section 9 here, who uses a wheelchair as she has walking difficulties bilateral osteoarthritis.

MBSA Community Development Department director Shahrin Ahmad presented the equipment to Rajammah’s son Sri Mageshwarar at the department headquarters here yesterday.

MBSA said it is committed to its various welfare initiatives to help the underserved and foster a more caring, inclusive and prosperous community.
