About 2 years back, in December, KL and Selangor were hit by an unexpected flood that devastated local communities.

Now, with it being the month of November, inching closer to December with heavy rain almost every single day, the current government is going all out to make sure that flood prevention is the main priority.

Now, one of the most heavily hit areas during the 2021 flood was Taman Sri Muda and on 25 November, MBSA teamed up with 1,500 volunteers to have a flood-prevention gotong-royong there.

According to their post, the volunteers were from the Majlis Perwakilan Penduduk (MPP), Tzu Chi Foundation, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Management & Science University (MSU) and Kolej VIS Mechatronic.

This program was held simultaneously in 4 zones around Seksyen 25 and the hardworking volunteers were cleaning up the area with machinery, throwing used items and garbage into the Roro bins that were prepared beforehand and picking up litter on the streets.

It is said that this program is an initiative by MBSA to educate the community about the importance of cleanliness in our surroundings and also to help communities in the “hot spots” that are always affected by floods.

Well, this is certainly a very good initiative and we hope that local governments across the whole nation will take note of this!
