SUBANG JAYA, Oct 5 — A total of 150 people participated in the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) disaster relief operation workshop in preparation for the Northeast monsoon season.

The workshop that was held with cooperation from the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department and the police also involved participants from the community, uniformed and government bodies.

Subang Jaya mayor Datuk Johary Anuar said the programme aims to develop a strategic operation plan for flood relief that will be documented for reference during disaster management.

“We also wanted to take utilise the Executive Information System (EIS) facility to make a detailed plan based on high-risk areas that have been mapped.

“At the same time the workshop aims to strengthen the inter-agency cooperation to ensure there is no overlap during relief operation,” he said to the media at Dewan Serbaguna MBSJ USJ7 here today.

Johary said the workshop focused on the standard operating procedure (SOP) at the temporary relief centre (PPS), safe evacuation locations and temporary parking for victims’ vehicles.

He said the SOP covers vehicles’ entry and exit into premises, assembly points for rescue agencies and rescuers as well as rescuing assets locations.

“It is hoped that this will improve the confidence among the agencies to take action during disasters and improve their speed and effectiveness in providing assistance,” he said.
