SHAH ALAM, June 15 — Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has launched its second woodball course named ‘Laman Woodball Datuk Bandar MBSJ USJ 11’ at Padang Awam MBSJ in USJ 11/5, Subang Jaya, yesterday.

Its mayor Dato’ Johary Anuar said the initiative was to bring benefits to all Subang Jaya residents to learn and play the game which is similar to golf that has become popular.

“This is the council’s second woodball course after the first at Taman Rekreasi Wawasan Puchong which had received a tremendous response from the people and prompted MBSJ to open a second course.

“We are still upgrading the course and will install solar light to enable people to play at night thus making this the first woodball course in the country to be installed with solar lighting,” he said during the soft launch of the woodball course yesterday.

In a statement issued later, Johary said he hoped that the facility will bring benefits and create sporting spirit among the Subang Jaya for the council to achieve its goal of creating a sustainable city development for the community.

The newly launched 12-course woodball facility will complement the council’s first 24-course international standard facility in Taman Rekreasi Wawasan Puchong which is the largest woodball course in the state.

“This sport was introduced by the MBSJ Zone 16 Residents’ Representative Council (MPP) at the Taman Rekreasi Wawasan Puchong with the establishment of the Wawasan Woodball Club that is headed by state executive councillor for local government Ng Sze Han.

“Currently the club has 38 registered members and is actively taking part in the local tournaments organised by the Malaysia Woodball Association,” he said.
