Manchester United assistant manager Steve McClaren stepped in to demand the players acknowledge the away fans after defeat at Newcastle.
United were second best throughout the day as the Toon ranout 2-0 winners.
The Daily Express says McClaren and Bruno Fernandes were upset with three players who sought to escape down the players' race at the final whistle.
The pair had to encourage Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Lisandro Martinez to go over to fans in the away end.
United return to action tomorrow night against Brentford with their top four place on the line.
