In a striking response to social media boycott calls targeting fast-food giants, McDonald’s Malaysia has introduced lower-priced options for their beloved Ayam Goreng sets.

This move comes as messages circulate online urging Malaysians to shun McDonald’s, due to Palestinian-Israel issues.

Cheaper Ayam Goreng Mcd set

Amidst news of dwindling customer numbers and its consequent impact on workers’ hours, McDonald’s has decided to offer a more wallet-friendly menu.

The company announced the promotion through a poster which was posted on Facebook.

They’re slashing prices on Malaysian favorites, notably the Ayam Goreng McD.

The usual set, featuring two pieces of Ayam Goreng with fries and a drink, previously priced at RM17, is now being offered at RM13.95.

Additionally, they’ve introduced a Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng set with iced lemon tea, initially priced at RM14.95, now down to RM10.95.

Netizens’ comments

These price reductions have sparked a variety of reactions online.

Comments range from suggestions for further price cuts to mixed reviews on the affordability of the new deals.

Some netizens remark, “Still expensive. Lower the prices more. Good luck trying,” and “They can sell cheaper after all… two pieces of chicken for RM17 is too much.”

“Sorry, I’m still waiting for RM8.95, with unlimited refill of soft drinks.”

Others speculate that more substantial items like burgers might draw more support: “If it was a bigger burger, maybe people would come back,” and “Not cheap enough yet, hahaha. Try again, McD.”
