MCMC and telcos implement 866 network-strengthening measures nationwide to ensure stable calls, internet, and video services during the festive travel period.

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and telecommunications service providers are implementing proactive measures to strengthen national communication networks ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

This effort aims to ensure the public enjoys seamless and stable communication services, including voice calls, messaging, internet browsing, and video connectivity during the festive travel period.

A total of 866 temporary network-strengthening measures have been carried out by telcos since early March to manage the expected surge in traffic.

MCMC stated that 774 initiatives involved network optimisation to enhance coverage quality and capacity.

A further 27 measures focused on 5G network activation and modernisation, while 21 provided temporary solutions like Portable Base Transceiver Stations.

The measures target locations at high risk of network congestion, including major highways, rest areas, tourist spots, and densely populated zones.

All telcos have been instructed to continuously monitor network performance and act immediately on any service disruption.

MCMC will coordinate and monitor through its state offices, including conducting responsive field checks at critical locations.

The public experiencing network issues are advised to contact their respective telcos or submit complaints via the MCMC official portal for immediate follow-up.

MCMC remains committed to ensuring uninterrupted and secure communication services during key occasions like Aidilfitri.
