Kota Kinabalu: Industry leaders have called for stronger collaboration and practical action to realise Sabah’s potential as a digital and innovation hub linking Malaysia with the wider Asean region.
Malaysia Short-Term Rental Accommodation Association (MyStra) President Jayden Lee said digital transformation should create opportunities, strengthen businesses and empower people rather than focus solely on adopting technology.
“Sabah has enormous potential to become an important digital and innovation hub connecting Malaysia with the wider Asean region,” he said at the conclusion of the 10th Malaysia Digital Economy Forum (MDEF2026) at International Technology Commercial Centre in here on Tuesday.
Malaysia Digital Chamber of Commerce Vice-President Felicia Lai said technology must deliver practical benefits, with artificial intelligence used responsibly and digital growth supported by strong cybersecurity.
“The real success of today’s forum will be seen in the partnerships we build and the actions we take after today — good ideas must be turned into real action,” she said.
