CYBERJAYA: The 3-D animated series ‘Mechamato’ produced by local animation studio Monsta has been voted number 11 among the top 100 anime works for the Tokyo Anime Awards Festival 2023.
Monsta Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nizam Razak said he was surprised with the news as the series was only admitted into the polls a few days ago.
“Entering the market is one thing, but to get in the top 10 in countries such as Japan and trending is really something. It shows our talent here has the potential to go into the global market,” he said at the official launch of the ‘Mechamato Movie’ poster and trailer reveal Tuesday at the Cyberview Resort & Spa.
The series which has already been broadcast in 65 countries is set to premiere its film ‘Mechamato Movie’ on Dec 8 in local cinemas this year.
The movie which focuses on a boy named Amato and his robot friend MechaBot, depicts the origin arc of the series, where Amato first meets Mechabot which crashed on earth with other evil robots.
“The series has managed to gain a stronger presence in the Asia Pacific region upon entering the famous streaming platform Netflix and has been made available in multiple languages such as English, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin and others,” said Monsta in a statement.
Monsta is also the creator to the hit 3D-animated series and movie BoBoiBoy, which has successfully penetrated to more than 70 countries worldwide and translated into more than 12 languages.
