The framework agreement between the United States and Iran has entered into force with immediate effect following its signing, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said early on Thursday.
Sharif, whose country helped mediate the deal, said on X that Iran would "instantly reopen" the Strait of Hormuz and that the US would "immediately" lift its naval blockade of Iranian ports.
"Pakistan with the support of co-mediator State of Qatar will host the official ceremony as scheduled on 19 June 2026 in Switzerland, to commemorate this landmark event and commence with the technical level talks," he added.
The announcement came after Iranian and US officials said the framework agreement aimed at ending the war had been electronically signed and had taken effect.
No further details were immediately available.
