Kota Kinabalu: Long school holidays are the time for mass circumcision ceremonies for children, alongside various celebrations and practices.

The event has become a mandatory tradition in all districts, especially in Sabah, which is celebrated on a grand scale with a ‘tepung tawar’ ceremony perfected by local leaders.

A total of 153 children went through the thrilling ceremony at the Khatan Perdana Ceremony organised by the Sabah Islamic Religious Affairs Department (Jheains) in collaboration with the Sabah Islamic Religious Council (Muis) and Sabah Baitulmal Corporation, recently.

The children involved were also paraded while praying for Prophet Muhammad SAW at a ceremony officiated by the Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, Datuk Ruslan Muharam, at the Sabah State Mosque, here.
