MEDICARD is utilizing its new digital health care platform to widen access to mental health support, allowing eligible members to seek assistance easily through the platform.
“[M]ental health is not talked about in the Philippines very much,” MediCard CEO Julian Mengual said Wednesday.
“We know it's a massive issue right now, and so we want people to have the comfort to be able to embrace it, talk about it in the comfort of their own home without feeling stigmatized or concerned,” he told a media briefing.
Mengual said access to mental health services through the company's new MedGo app would depend partly on the health care benefits selected by employers for their workers.
The platform allows members to access various health care features, including mental health support, although the availability of specific services may vary depending on their individual plans.
“We encourage everyone to take the mental health solution,” Mengual said.
He said employers determine which features to include in their health care packages, with some opting for mental health support while others may prioritize different services.
The MedGo app now allows members to access their digital ID, check their benefits and coverage, request letters of authorization (LOAs), book appointments, use online consultations, and file and track reimbursement claims.
Members can also find MediCard clinics, doctors, hospitals and other accredited health care providers through the app. Select accounts have access to Face Scan, which provides health insights through a simple, non-invasive scan.
“We listened closely to member feedback and redesigned the experience around their needs,” Mengual said.
“Beyond introducing new capabilities, we focused on creating a more seamless journey that allows our members to rely on their preferred services that are easier to access, simpler to navigate, and more intuitive to use,” he added.
MediCard earlier saw 60 to 70 percent of its customers download its previous app, and the company hopes its more than 1 million members would adopt the upgraded platform. The goal is to make the app a health care companion that members could use to access services and support when needed, Mengual said.
“Our commitment is to continue listening to our members, strengthening the platform and improving the experience so they can spend less time navigating processes and more time focusing on their health,” he said.
“This is why we have a dedicated team who continues to expand the services provided and enhance the user experience through regular deployments that are shaped by the feedback and insights provided by our members."
