Mega iLINDUNGu festival offers 2,000 jobs with salaries up to RM12,000 and RM1.5 million in contributions to expand social protection for gig workers.
PETALING JAYA: Some 2,000 job opportunities with salaries of up to RM12,000, along with more than RM1.5 million in contributions from platform providers to expand social security protection for gig workers, are among the key offerings at the Mega iLINDUNGu: KESUMA Bersama Rakyat Festival.
Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said 25 employers were participating in the festival through MYFutureJobs, offering about 2,000 vacancies with salaries ranging from RM2,000 to RM12,000.
“Our focus is clear. The people who come here should not only receive information, but we want them to go home with job opportunities, access to social protection and solutions that can have a direct impact on their lives.
“For those looking for jobs or seeking to advance their careers, seize this opportunity. We are bringing employers and job opportunities directly to the people,” he said.
Perkeso chairman Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal said this year’s festival was a continuation of last year’s programme, which attracted more than 140,000 visitors at events held in Shah Alam and Penang.
He said the three-day festival, which runs from Sept 18 to 20, is targeting 60,000 visitors and involves 11 agencies under the Human Resources Ministry (Kesuma), including the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (MITRA).
“The programme provides an opportunity for the public to gain a closer understanding of the social security protection benefits provided by Perkeso, while ensuring that every segment of society, whether salaried workers or self-employed individuals, is aware of their rights,” he said.
The festival also provides employers and contributors with direct access to various LINDUNG Pekerja services, including contribution checks, benefit claim checks and discounts of up to 80% on Late Contribution Payment Benefits (FCLB) for employers.
Subahan said Perkeso had also set up a special counter for contributors who had previously opted out of LINDUNG 24 Jam to rejoin the scheme and obtain information about the protection provided.
Meanwhile, RM48,000 was allocated by the Human Resources Ministry through LINDUNG Kasih Suri Rumah to extend social protection benefits to 400 housewives.
Foodpanda contributed RM1 million, Grab RM500,000 and Halo RM14,412.40, bringing the total contributions to RM1,514,412.40.
The contributions will benefit 500 e-hailing drivers and p-hailing riders.
The festival also features talk sessions with artistes and influencers, sharing sessions by benefit recipients and their beneficiaries, as well as family and health activities, including children’s fashion shows, colouring activities, lucky draws and health screenings.
Also featured are Pound and pickleball competitions, while the first 100 contributors have the opportunity to receive concert hot boxes, discount vouchers and exclusive LINDUNG merchandise.
Ramanan said the festival reflected the Kesuma Bersama Rakyat approach of bringing government services directly to the community rather than requiring people to seek them out.
“We are the ones who need to go to the ground, get closer to them, listen to their voices and bring solutions directly to the community,” he said.
Also present was Perkeso group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed.
