Melaka High Court orders MP Mas Ermieyati to pay damages and apologise for defamatory social media posts against MARA and its chairman Asyraf Wajdi

MELAKA: The Melaka High Court has ordered Masjid Tanah MP Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin to pay RM50,000 in damages for defaming Majlis Amanah Rakyat and its chairman, Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.

The court also ordered her to issue a public apology within 14 days and withdraw three defamatory videos and statements from social media.

Lawyer Adnan Seman @ Abdullah, representing Asyraf Wajdi, said the matter was resolved through a consent judgment after mediation.

He stated that the defendant acknowledged the publications contained untrue and defamatory claims against his client and MARA.

“The case has been settled with a consent judgment recorded in court,” he told reporters at the Melaka Court Complex.

Asyraf Wajdi filed the suit after Mas Ermieyati allegedly accused him of misusing MARA funds and neglecting Technical and Vocational Education and Training.

Mas Ermieyati was represented by lawyer Zulfahami Abu Bakar.
