Parti Bersama Malaysia has launched a six-point manifesto for the 16th Melaka state election, prioritizing financial sustainability, public welfare, and environmental protection.

MELAKA: Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) has unveiled a six-point manifesto for the 16th Melaka state election, focusing on financial sustainability, public welfare and environmental protection.

The 23-page manifesto, themed ‘Dulu Kancil Pilih Melaka, Kini Melaka Pilih Kancil’, was launched by the party’s co-founder Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli here this afternoon.

It also introduces Bersama’s 16 candidates and outlines the party’s pledge to promote a grassroots, community service-oriented political culture.

The manifesto reviews the state government’s financial sustainability and management from 2021 to 2025, while highlighting weaknesses in planning and the proliferation of ‘white elephant’ projects.

It also sets out Bersama’s vision for balanced economic growth in Melaka through economic diversification and efforts to increase the people’s purchasing power, including reducing reliance on approvals for property development and land reclamation projects.

The manifesto also proposes a Melaka Infrastructure Plan 2050 to address major threats to the people’s livelihoods arising from rising sea levels, which are expected to affect more than 460,000 residents.

Strengthening governance and the democratic system is another priority to establish a transparent, disciplined administration free from partisan politics.

Bersama also aims to expand socio-economic programmes, proposing that at least 30 per cent of the state government’s expenditure be channelled into comprehensive programmes that directly benefit the people.

Polling is on Nov 14, with early voting set for Nov 10.
