PUTRAJAYA: The government is drafting legislation to impose fines on men who enter pink carriages reserved for female passengers on public transport, transport minister Loke Siew Fook said.
He added that commuter service providers like KTMB and MRT had been asked to step up monitoring of women-only carriages.
He said auxiliary police at railway and MRT stations would be on duty more often to ensure men did not encroach on women’s carriages.
We are drafting a regulation to impose fines. Right now, there is no rule that we can fine men who ignore designated women’s carriages, he said at a press conference here today.

Recently, a video recording went viral on social media showing a man scolding a woman after being ticked off for travelling in a women-only carriage.
