Kota Kinabalu: A mentally unstable man took his sister and mother hostage at his home in Taman Jaya Diri, Sepanggar, on Monday.
The 42-year-old suspect, armed with a meat cleaver, locked his mother and sister inside the house in the 2.30pm incident.
Police said the suspect was a patient at the Bukit Padang Mesra Hospital, adding two policemen were injured during efforts to apprehend the man.
