LABUAN: A proper study should be made before the Menu Rahmah programme is extended to other states in the country, says activist Lau Seng Kiat.
He said this is because the RM5 meals while beneficial to some may deliver a blow to petty hawkers and small-time eateries.
“Many in the B40 category are eking out a living by making and selling home-made cookies, nasi lemak or fried noodles in packs, and the advent of Menu Rahmah could result in them being put out of business,” he said.
