MANILA Electric Co. (Meralco) has started the competitive selection process (CSP) for a 600-megawatt (MW) baseload requirement.
The company has received a certificate of conformity issued by the Department of Energy to conduct the CSP following more than a year of thorough review.
Meralco said the CSP would be technology-neutral and all generation technologies that meet the technical and commercial requirements would be allowed to submit an offer.
The resulting 15-year power supply agreement is intended to cover the supply of 300 MW by Feb. 26, 2028, and another 300 MW by Feb. 26, 2029.
“This CSP forms part of Meralco’s continuing commitment to securing reliable, adequate and competitively priced power supply for customers through a transparent and competitive procurement process,” Meralco Bids and Awards Committee chairman Lawrence Fernandez said.
Power generation companies have until July 14 to submit their expressions of interest. The pre-bid conference is scheduled for July 28 while the bid submission deadline is Sept. 1.
Meralco shares on Wednesday dropped P7 to close at P573 per share.
