Post-mortems are finished on a Merbok couple found dead in their home, but their bodies are being held for further forensic identification.

SUNGAI PETANI: Post-mortem examinations on a married couple believed murdered in Kampung Belau, Merbok, have been completed.

Kuala Muda district police chief ACP Hanyan Ramlan said the bodies have not yet been released to the family and remain at the Forensic Unit of Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar.

“Although the post-mortems were completed yesterday, they have not been handed over to the family as DNA and fingerprint identification processes are still ongoing,” he told reporters.

He added that the body of the suspect, who is the son of the female victim, had been claimed by his family and was buried yesterday.

The bodies of Zikri Abdul Rahman, 65, and Suraya Man, 53, were discovered in the kitchen area of their home and are believed to have been dead for more than 48 hours.

The body of Suraya’s son, believed to be the suspect, was found upstairs with a slash wound to the neck.
