- The Metropolitan Police have said they cannot ban a pro-Palestine protest planned in London on the third anniversary of the October 7 Hamas attacks, and have instead repeated a request for demonstrators to hold the march on another day.
- The march, organised by the University of London Coalition, is subject to ”robust” conditions, with participants banned from wearing face masks that conceal their identity.
- Police have specified a strict route between Lincoln's Inn Fields and Russell Square and said anyone violating those conditions risked arrest.
- Deputy Assistant Commissioner James Harman called on protesters to “reflect on the impact and distress [the rally] will cause on this very significant date”.
- The Met said that the march cannot be legally banned as the risk of serious disorder does not meet the high threshold required to request a ban from the Home Secretary.
