- The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for extreme heat ahead of a heatwave expected in the UK over the weekend.
- The warning, effective from first thing Monday until Tuesday evening, covers the east, south east and south west of England, as well as London and parts of Wales.
- Amber heat health alerts have already been issued by the UK Health Security Agency for London, the east, south east, and south west of England, valid until 8pm on Tuesday.
- The Met Office indicates a 40% chance that temperatures could surpass the highest ever recorded for June, which stands at 35.6C.
- While temperatures may dip slightly on Saturday, they are predicted to rise again, potentially reaching 34C or higher by Monday, with a small risk of thunderstorms on Sunday.
