  • The Met Office has issued an amber warning for thunderstorms across parts of southern England, including London, Brighton, and Cambridge, for Saturday morning.
  • The warning highlights a risk of "significant" flooding, danger to life, disruption to transport, potential power cuts, and damage to properties.
  • Several yellow warnings for thunderstorms are also in effect across various regions of England and eastern Scotland from Friday through to Monday.
  • The heavy rainfall is attributed to a warm and humid airmass, which could also bring temperatures of 30°C or more to eastern England.
  • Southern Water has introduced a hosepipe ban for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight from Monday, following exceptionally dry weather and low rainfall across England.
