KUALA LUMPUR, June 23 - The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued an advisory on Typhoon Mekkhala, which was detected about 1,616km northeast of Kudat, Sabah.
Its National Weather and Geophysics Operations Centre said the typhoon was located about 460km northeast of Luzon, the Philippines.
Based on observations at 5pm today, the typhoon is moving northwest at a speed of 10km/h and may reach a maximum wind speed of up to 185km/h.
“There is no significant impact on Malaysia,” MetMalaysia said in a statement today.
